Payroll Supervisor
Creative Financial Staffing is currently seeking a Payroll Supervisor for our client in the logistics industry. This is an exciting opportunity to join a great team with a collaborative culture while overseeing multi-state payroll operations. The Payroll Supervisor will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes, while maintaining compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws. This role will also supervise a Payroll Specialist and work closely with management to improve payroll operations and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Payroll Supervisor will supervise and ensure accurate payroll processing for a multi-state workforce, including new hires, terminations, transfers, and promotions.
- Oversee weekly payroll disbursements, including wages, garnishments, benefits, and taxes.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues.
- Review and analyze payroll, benefits, and tax procedures to recommend process improvements.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll functions.
- The Payroll Supervisor will oversee the preparation and distribution of W-2s, 1099s, and ACA filings (1094-C/1095-C).
- Audit payroll records, including W-4s, payroll balance sheets, and year-to-date earnings.
- Work closely with Operations, HR, and Billing teams to ensure accurate data integration.
- Maintain and update payroll systems to reflect accurate wages, benefits, and leave balances.
- The Payroll Supervisor will generate and analyze payroll reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Oversee child support and tax garnishment withholdings.
- Assist with 401(k) deposits, company matching, and audit preparation.
- The Payroll Supervisor will handle payroll-related filings, reporting, and regulatory compliance tasks.
- Maintain confidential employee payroll records and personnel files.
- Perform additional payroll-related duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or at least 5 years of payroll experience.
- Extensive knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and multi-state payroll processing.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and confidentiality requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP functions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
