Senior Payroll Specialist (Part-Time, Temp-to-Perm)

Senior Payroll Specialist - Greater Philadelphia Area - Up to $53/hr

Join a growing, mission-driven company in the life sciences industry as a part-time Senior Payroll Specialist. This contract-to-hire role offers the opportunity to take ownership of payroll operations while contributing to HR and finance process improvements.

Senior Payroll Specialist - Responsibilities

  • Process and manage semi-monthly and off-cycle multi-state payroll for 30+ employees using ADP Workforce Now
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including direct deposits, deductions, tax withholdings, and benefit enrollments
  • Assist with the implementation and administration of benefit plans within the payroll system
  • Set up and manage 401(k) contributions, employer match, and automation with the plan provider (Vanguard)
  • Support payroll GL mapping for financial reporting and accounting
  • Monitor and maintain state tax accounts using ADP SmartCompliance
  • Prepare general ledger and audit-related payroll reports as needed
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure compliance and accuracy in payroll operations
  • Handle confidential employee data with discretion and professionalism

Senior Payroll Specialist - Requirements

  • 4+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience required
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now is required
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, benefits integration, and tax reporting
  • Experience working in biotech, pharma, or life sciences preferred
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or HR (or equivalent work experience)
  • Ability to commit to approximately 20 hours per week with flexibility outside of Tuesdays (on-site day)
