We are looking for an experienced Construction Payroll Specialist to oversee all payroll activities related to our construction projects. This role will focus on certified payroll processes, deduction management, and data entry, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction payroll and excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Operations: Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timely payments. Including the weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees. Payroll oversight for 5 companies. This position will report to the Payroll Manager.
- Certified Payroll Processing: Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly for government contracts and prevailing wage projects.
- Deduction Management: Oversee employee deductions, including taxes, benefits, and garnishments, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Data Entry and Management: Ensure accurate and timely data entry of payroll-related information, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status. Maintain payroll records with a high level of accuracy.
- Collaboration with Field Operation Managers/PMs: Work closely with project managers to understand labor requirements, track hours worked on specific projects and ensure compliance with union agreements and labor laws.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate and analyze payroll reports to provide insights into labor costs, trends, and compliance. Present findings to management as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations, tax laws, and industry standards, ensuring all payroll processes remain compliant.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, resolving issues and providing guidance on deductions and benefits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll processing, with 3 years in a supervisory role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of certified payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Foundations and Heavy Jobs is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar is highly desirable.
