We're currently partnered with a leading organization seeking an experienced Manager of Payroll Operations to lead their North American payroll functions. This is a hybrid contract role based in San Antonio, TX, requiring 3 days/week onsite. The role is ideal for a seasoned payroll leader with experience in multi-state, U.S., Canadian, and Puerto Rican payroll, and a passion for driving operational excellence and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop payroll teams across a centralized service delivery model.
- Act as a change agent to drive proactive, technology-forward solutions.
- Support major projects including M&A integrations and business reorganizations.
- Set departmental goals and align payroll strategies with broader business objectives.
Operational Management
- Oversee payroll for North America (U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico).
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, tax filings, and vendor performance.
- Manage ADP payroll systems and ensure alignment with SLAs.
- Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and perform regular security audits.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with HR, Global Mobility, IT, Tax, Treasury, and Finance.
- Support complex employee transfer processes across countries.
- Serve as an internal expert on compliance and payroll tax matters.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years experience in Accounting, Business, or HR
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Strong knowledge of payroll labor laws and tax regulations
- Experience managing vendor relationships and ADP systems
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
- FPC or CPP certification
