We are looking to hire a Payroll Manager to take full responsibility for our Payroll function, which is run on MHR I-Trent software.

We operate several monthly (salary) and fortnightly payrolls across the Group.

The Payroll Manager will manage a team of 6 employees across Payroll & CIS Subcontractors Payrolls. Other functions include managing expenses and business mileage administration, as well as onboarding new starters onto our systems.

Role Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that all aspects of staff pay, including pensions and other staff benefits (including completing annual P11D and PSA forms for HMRC), are accurate and timely, and that all statutory and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  2. Be the first point of contact for payroll queries and all matters related to staff pay.
  3. Create, update, and manage efficient work systems and effective internal controls within the payroll function, minimizing processing errors and ensuring changes are reflected accurately and promptly. Maintain high levels of quality and service, ensuring prompt and accurate processing, payment, reporting, and record keeping of payroll.
  4. Promote continuous improvement and a solution-focused approach, providing high-quality advice on payroll-related matters, responding to queries, and liaising with departmental managers, staff, HR, Finance, and HMRC as necessary.
  5. Manage Auto-Enrolment and Pension Schemes, including reporting to Pension Providers and communicating with staff.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements, including PAYE, deductions, and HMRC rules. Problem-solving skills, ability to investigate and diagnose issues, and implement improvements are essential. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll systems are required.
