Payroll Manager Job Description

Responsibilities for payroll manager
Responsible for complete lifecycle of weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing
Manage and develop the payroll staff on a day-to-day basis giving training and development where needed
Manage and balance workload for staff and focus on process improvements
Trouble-shoot and debug issues in processes, functions, interfaces relating to payroll, benefits, taxes, and time entry
Collaborate on payroll system enhancements and upgrades
Responsible for creating, reviewing and distributing various payroll reports to support financial projections, audits, or compliance issues
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office software (especially Excel), any Report Writer application, Strong attention to detail
Management of bank processing for payroll
Review, analyze and check payroll reports for accuracy and make necessary adjustments or corrections
Audit payroll in a timely fashion to ensure accuracy before transmission
Qualifications for payroll manager
Minimum 2 years of payroll management or supervisory experience in a corporate payroll department with a multi-location team
Bachelor's degree preferred but strong experience and background desirable
Adaptable to constant change, able to function effectively under stress and provide insightful guidance to the team to assist during their times of stress and ensure execution
Canada payroll experience a plus
Foster open communication with the staff, develops a strong sense of teamwork, builds talent and leads the team to excellence
Has excellent customer service skills
