Bowen, Miclette & Britt Insurance Agency, LLC (BMB) has an immediate opening for a qualified and experienced Payroll & Benefits Accountant.

We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Accountant with experience in payroll processing and 401(k) census reporting to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 250 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Administer 401(k) contributions, reconciliations, and compliance reporting, including annual census reporting
- Maintain payroll records and ensure proper tax withholdings, deductions, and garnishments
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure payroll expenses are accurately recorded
- Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with payroll policies and procedures, including wage and hour laws
- Assist with audits and reporting related to payroll and benefits
- Various other administrative responsibilities
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Experience with 401(k) administration and annual census reporting
- Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paycom, Paycor, or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) is a plus
