Payroll Administrator
Location: Fort Mill, SC
Salary: $47,000 - $72,000 (DOE)
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Payroll Administrator to join the Finance team. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll operations for the municipality. If you have experience with government payroll systems and are passionate about maintaining accuracy and confidentiality, this could be a great fit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for all staff in compliance with state, federal, FLSA, and APA guidelines
- Maintain and troubleshoot payroll systems including ExecuTime (Time and Attendance) and Tyler Technologies
- Manage and process garnishments, levies, and other court-ordered deductions
- Reconcile payroll liabilities, prepare journal entries, and assist with financial audits
- Ensure accuracy of W-2s, ACA reporting, and all year-end tax filings
- Prepare and submit quarterly and annual payroll reports
- Collaborate with IT on payroll system security and updates
- Maintain procedure manuals and assist in training other staff
- Respond to employee inquiries on pay, deductions, leave accruals, and fringe benefits
- Provide excellent customer service to vendors and internal departments
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in payroll administration, preferably within a government entity
- Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements
- Familiarity with Tyler Technologies and ExecuTime strongly preferred
- Ability to manage confidential data with discretion
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard office equipment
