The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Payload System Test Engineer to join our Engineering team in El Segundo, CA. This role is responsible for implementing test procedures on flight hardware and verifying all spacecraft subsystems. Additionally, performing scripted test procedures, troubleshooting test anomalies, and conducting data analysis. This position is for 1st shift; however, additional shifts may be required to support program objectives. This position is expected to work weekends, holidays, and off-shifts as required to support program objectives. Our teams are currently hiring for the following range of experience levels; Entry-Level, Associate and Experienced Payload System Test Engineer. Entry Level Position Responsibilities: Participates in gathering and analyzing requirements for test measurement systems.
Assists in the development of test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition to perform the test within the constraints of the test plan.
Develops solutions to calibration systems problems. Performs data analysis, develops and utilizes data processing tools.
Designs simple component level hardware or software. Uses analytical tools to verify the design.
Verifies collection of complete data set.
Maintains test logs, prepares simple test reports and archives data.
Works under direct supervision Associate Position Responsibilities: Assists in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods
Develops simple test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform the test and minimize risk
Designs component and sub-assembly level hardware or software and uses analytical tools to verify the design
Assists in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of test hardware.
Identifies solutions to basic problems and supports the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools
Supports development of test debrief material. Participates in evaluation of test performance data
Reviews test data for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
Alerts senior engineers of off-nominal data. Prepares test reports for review
Works under general supervision Experienced (mid-level) Position Responsibilities: Supports the development and verification of test methods
Develops detailed test procedures, and instrumentation and configuration definition, needed to perform the test and minimize risk within the constraints of the test plan
Develops solutions to calibration systems problems of limited scope and impact
Designs test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements.
Uses analytical tools to verify the design
Analyzes, processes, and formats data to customer requirements
Reviews test data, including off-nominal data, for accuracy, quality and/or fidelity prior to delivery to customer
Prepares and publishes test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements
Presents test results internally
Archives data and reports
Trains others
Works under general direction Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
2+ years of experience with test instrumentation and/or test methods
2+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronics equipment, hardware, and software
Experience in RF electronics testing
Experience in software tools, software troubleshooting, and scripting Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Level 3: 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Level 4: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Extensive experience working with lab test hardware, bench equipment, measurement and power devices
Strong experience working with electronics products
Strong experience working with space systems and RF subsystems
Strong communication, collaboration, and coordination skills
Strong desire and ability to naturally follow, promote, and uphold company values & behaviors
