Role Description
Job Title: Payer Contract Manager
Level: Mid-Senior to Senior (Emerging Leader)
Manage People: No (individual contributor; you'll lead initiatives and influence cross-functionally)
- Drive Negotiation Excellence: Guide provider clients through payer contract negotiations using our platform's insights to secure optimal terms.
- Translate Data to Strategy: Partner with clients to convert pricing transparency data into actionable negotiation tactics and playbooks.
- Influence Product Roadmap: Surface frontline negotiation challenges and opportunities to shape future features and enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
1 - Client Engagement & Strategy
- Lead discovery sessions to understand each client's payer mix, goals, and challenges.
- Develop tailored negotiation strategies leveraging platform analytics and benchmarks.
2 - Negotiation Process Management
- Manage end-to-end negotiation support: prep, rate modelling, proposal drafting, and negotiation calls.
- Coordinate internal and client stakeholders to keep deals on track and on deadline.
3 - Data Interpretation & Modeling
- Analyze transparency data to identify opportunities-e.g., out-of-network rate gaps, carve-outs, add-ons.
- Build simple models and visualizations that clarify impact and drive client decisions.
4 - Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Customer Success to onboard clients and with Product to translate needs into specs.
- Partner with Engineering/Data teams to ensure insights are accurate, timely, and user-friendly.
5 - Feedback & Product Input
- Document recurring negotiation pain points and feature requests.
- Present insights and suggestions to Product leadership to inform roadmap prioritization.

• Shadow negotiation calls and prep sessions with senior team members
• Draft a standard negotiation playbook framework

• Lead your first solo client negotiation support engagement
• Refine playbook based on real-world feedback
• Deliver a priority list of product enhancements tied to negotiation workflows
90 Days
• Demonstrate measurable improvement in client negotiation outcomes (e.g., rate uplift %)
• Roll out the finalized playbook across Customer Success
• Partner with Product to scope and schedule at least one platform feature driven by your insights
Skills & Experience
Must-Haves
• 5+ years running payer contract negotiations within provider organizations (health systems, hospitals)
• Deep expertise in contract structures, rate schedules, and negotiation tactics
• Proven track record securing favorable terms and measurable rate uplifts
• Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder management
Superpower
• You combine data-driven analysis with negotiation savvy to close complex contracts.
