Position/Title: Patrol Boat Lead Engineering Instructor

Background: Vectrona is seeking a mission-driven Engineering Instructor to support the Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (MESF) by delivering a dynamic 4-week basic and advanced engineering course tailored for Patrol Boat (PB) craft engineers and support personnel. As the engineering subject matter expert (SME), you will train the next generation of MESF maintainers and operators in critical propulsion, engine, and auxiliary systems-bringing your operational know-how to bear in a hands-on learning environment.
You will join a highly skilled, two-person instructor team, working alongside a San Diego-based counterpart to support instruction on both coasts. This position is located onsite at the government training facility in Virginia Beach, VA. Remote work is situationally authorized, but this is a hands-on role focused on in-person delivery and mentorship.

Responsibilities
- Deliver up to 8 four-week MESF Patrol Boat Engineering courses annually (4 in Virginia Beach, 4 in San Diego).
- Maintain, revise, and improve curriculum content in alignment with Navy Education and Training Command (NETC) standards, including PowerPoint, lesson topic guides, and instructor guides.
- Submit courseware changes to the MESG-2 Learning Standards Officer for review and approval.
- Lead annual formal course review sessions with Training Evaluation Units (TEUs) and support continuous improvement via Lessons Learned and student feedback reports.
- Coordinate closely with Navy training stakeholders and support updates across all required training locations.
- Travel up to 30% for course delivery or coordination support, including potential trips to Mayport, FL; Groton, CT; and Tacoma, WA.
Education/Degree(minimum):
- High School Degree or equivalent
- Navy Master Training Specialist or equivalent (Completion of a civilian (or commercial) formal course of instruction, which has been evaluated and certified as a JIT/NITC equivalency by the Center for Professional Development (CPPD).
Qualifications (Required)
- Possess a minimum of five (5) years' experience Troubleshooting and Repair:
- Cummins QSB4.5, QSB5.9, QSB6.7 diesel engines
- Hamilton Waterjet HJ292 and HM651
- Twin Disc Marine Gear Transmission MG5075SC. (required)
- Advanced small boat engineer or MESF engineering platform experience, Special Warfare Combat Crewman Engineers, or prior operational MESF Boat Engineer experience. (required)
Preferred:
- One (1) year of instructional experience (as evidenced by DD-214, course certificates, etc)
- Navy second-class swimmer or civilian industry standard equivalent
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to analyze and improve course materials and instructional delivery
- Excellent planning, coordination, and time management skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively to meet tight deadlines and evolving training needs
