Job Summary The Patient Transportation Coordinator is responsible for answering and scheduling incoming calls from patients for the MGB Shuttle Bus. The Coordinator provides excellent customer service, meets all performance standards, and performs other various functions. This position reports to the Supervisor, Central Registration and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required One (1) to three (3) years of office and/or customer service, including a demonstrated ability to use appropriate judgement Spelling and typing competence with computer experience required Excellent oral and written communication skills required; the ability to communicate effectively with the public and all hospital personnel in a high-volume setting required; ability to multi-task required Healthcare and patient scheduling experience preferred Additional Job Details (if applicable) SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 12:00pm After 90 days of successful onsite training, schedule will move to hybrid ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ensure all calls are handled in an expedient and professional manner. Provide exceptional customer service. Verify and update necessary information including patient demographic information. Schedule patient MGH shuttle trips according to set forth scheduling grid in system. Advise patients of rules for riding the shuttle bus, masks, etc. Send patient shuttle bus instructions prior to appointment. Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control and environmental standards. Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise. Meet annual competency and retraining requirements. Attend meetings as required. Regular and reliable job attendance is an essential job function. Perform other functions/duties as requested.
