Job Summary:

Coordinates all aspects of check-out by performing the duties and responsibilities listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a high level of patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Provides quality customer service and professionalism when working with staff, patients, insurance carriers and all other related agencies.
  • Greets all patients and visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments.
  • Work status new and approved failed lists.
  • Reconciles credit card charges at the end of each day.
  • Collects co-pays and deductibles from insured patients, or full payment from uninsured patients; notifies patients of any outstanding balances.
  • Brings up patient visit in the computer system, posts daily charges and payments to accounts; prints receipt for patient.
  • Scans all reports/encounter forms to billing office and OAD files, and creates daily folders.
  • Process pre-surgery deposits.
  • Prepares money bag to be picked up by courier.
  • Assist front desk as needed.
  • Process bills for home health certification.
  • Balance credit card charges, checks and cash. Print reports and balance daily entries.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as directed by management.

  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills - Knowledge of Centricity database software and general knowledge of Microsoft applications is helpful.
  • Other Skills and Abilities - Knowledge and understanding of medical insurance is helpful. Knowledge of billing is helpful.

Education & Qualifications:
  • Education - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - None.
  • Qualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Previous customer service experience is preferred.
    • Previous experience in a medical practice environment is helpful.
