The Patient Service Representative is responsible for welcoming and assisting patients with; scheduling of appointments, taking charge of all aspects of registering patients, answering all incoming calls, collecting charges for the office visit, taking complete and accurate messages, and documenting appropriately. Reporting to Practice Management this position is also responsible for identifying issues and reporting to appropriate staff for resolution.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
- Minimum High School diploma or GED
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with payment/billing collection.
• Minimum 1-year ambulatory care medical office experience

Significant Job Functions: • Correctly identifies appropriateness of appointment scheduling. Directs emergent needs to nurse manager for further triage.
• Reviews clinician completed encounter sheet for appropriate completeness of form.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to work towards appropriate resolution of concerns, complaints, and grievances.
• Prepares patient records for office visits, mounting labs, entering appropriate forms as needed.
• Responsible for complete and accurate data entry of all information which includes patient registration, encounter billing information and changes in insurance information.
• Responsible to ensure all charts and forms for the office visit is ready for the provider: i.e., encounter form, chart forms and appointment list.
• Responsible for assisting in answering all incoming calls, taking accurate messages.
• Assist in scheduling appointments and directing appropriate calls to the triage nurse.
• Exits patient. Collects payments, obtains referrals to specialists and schedules upcoming appointments when necessary.
• Provides reports of daily productivity, collection standing, and problem areas of the front desk to the Operations Director daily.
Physical Effort/ Environment: •Must be proficient with the use of computers, answer multiple incoming telephone lines, take accurate written messages, verify all insurance coverages and files. Moderate physical activity, walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stretching.
