Job Summary
The role of the Specialty Med Patient Assistance Coordinator is to support patients and/or families by evaluating the financial situation of uninsured or under-insured patients and connecting them with medication assistance. The Patient Assistance Coordinator will work closely with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to secure access to medication therapy for patients with financial hardship. The PAC will centrally coordinate, obtain, review, and track patient assistance applications for free or low cost medications from drug companies as part of the Specialty Medications program at CoxHealth and will act as a financial advocate for the patient.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: High school diploma or Equivalent
- Experience
- Preferred: 1 year of Pharmacy, Healthcare, or customer service experience preferably in an ambulatory clinic setting or retail pharmacy
- Skills
- Excellent communication skills required with the ability to interact with providers, clinical staff, and team members in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to navigate and properly utilize the electronic medical record
- Ability to be self-directed and function independently with minimal oversight and to work collaboratively within the specialty medications team
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Proficient using computers, including all Microsoft Office programs and Teams
