Pathology Physician

Coverage Needed:

• July 1, 2025 - ongoing
• Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday
• Weekend Requirements: Every 2 weeks
• On Call Requirements: Rotating call every two weeks, including weeknights and weekends
• Minimum 6-month assignment

Clinical Details:

• Practice Setting: Hospital
• Lab's Certifications: CLIA, CAP, AABB
• Approx. Number of Cases Read Per Day: 10-15 per pathologist
• Taking call for blood bank/organ procurement (rare)/frozen sections two weeks on and two weeks off, reviewing specimens from techs that meet pathologist review criteria
• Responsible for grossing own specimens
  • Pathologist cuts frozens after hours only
  • Grossing is alternated one day biopsies and one day surgical sections
• Support Staff: 2 physicians, 6 histotechnologists
• Equipment: Bond IHC, Leica and Thermo cryostats, Zeiss microscope
• Documentation System/EMR: Epic Beaker
• Required Anatomic Pathology Procedures: Surgical Pathology, GI Pathology, GU Pathology, Neuropathology, Hematopathology (Bone Marrow, Lymph Nodes), Aspiration/bx of Bone Marrow, Interpretation of Bone Marrow Aspirate/bx, Cytology, Autopsy
• Required Clinical Pathology Procedures: Hematology, Microbiology. Chemistry/Serology, Blood Bank
• Method of Preparation: Liquid base prep
• Cytology Proficiency Exam Required for Non-GYN Cytology only

Requirements:

• Board Certified
• Active GA License
• BLS
