Job Details

Duration: 1 year contract
Shift: The hours could be between 9am - 8:30pm. This will be more '"per diem" position for us, meaning we are flexible on hours/days

Under the supervision and direction of the Chief of Anatomic Pathology, and/or Director of Operations, Anatomic Pathology, and/or the Clinical Specialist - Supervisor, the Clinical Specialist (Pathologist' Assistant) provides support to the Anatomic Pathology Department. Responsibilities include description, photographing, and grossing of specimens and assistance with frozen sections. The Pathologists' Assistant may assist with administrative functions including preparation and administrative maintenance of protocols, procedures, reports, data, and instruments and may perform administrative, budgetary, teaching, and other duties.

REQUIRED: Must be PA(ASCP) certified or eligible for and pass PA(ASCP) withing 12 months after hire. PA(ASCP) certified and have the certification attached to the submission along with the coversheet and resume.

Job Details:
We are currently seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Consulting Pathologist Assistant to join our healthcare team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the team by providing high-quality pathology services and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our healthcare delivery system. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes in Epic. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required for this role.

Responsibilities:
As a Consulting Pathologist Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:

1. Assisting pathologists in the preparation and performance of human surgical specimen dissection and human postmortem examinations.
2. Providing consultation and technical assistance to the laboratory staff and other healthcare providers.
3. Performing gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens, including the selection and submission of specimens for histological examination.
4. Assisting in the collection and preservation of specimens for studies and tests, both routine and specialized.
5. Accurately coding all services and procedures using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes in Epic.
6. Participating in quality assurance activities and compliance efforts.
7. Collaborating with healthcare team members to establish and maintain positive relationships.
8. Providing training and guidance to junior staff members and students.
9. Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and advancements in pathology.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

1. A minimum of one years of experience as a Pathologist Assistant or in a similar role within the healthcare industry.
2. Proficiency in using healthcare software such as CPCH, Epic, EZ Cap, and Epic Tapestry.
3. Extensive experience working with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes in Epic.
4. A solid understanding of medical terminology, human anatomy, and surgical procedures.
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
6. The ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
8. An unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.
9. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
10. Certification as a Pathologist Assistant is highly desirable.
