Job Title: Patent Paralegal
Location: San Francisco, CA / Remote/ Hybrid
Duration: 6 months (Extendable)
Rate: $55-62/hr
Position Overview: Seeking a full-time contract Patent Paralegal to support intellectual property operations. This role is focused on U.S. and foreign patent filing and prosecution, working closely with attorneys, agents, paralegals, and outside counsel. Requires excellent attention to detail, multitasking, and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: -
Draft and prepare legal documents for international patent filings and prosecution

Prepare U.S. and PCT applications using ePCT and file electronically through Patent Center

Respond to office actions, complete formalities, and ensure timely submissions with U.S. and international law firms

Respond to internal/external inquiries related to company and third-party patents

Research and provide information regarding patent terms, ownership, and related legal dates using tools like Patent Center, Espacenet, and Patentscope

Ensure adherence to internal procedures and legal requirements

Support ad hoc duties as requested by management
Required Qualifications: -
Bachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent experience

At least 3 years of combined U.S. and foreign patent experience (both required)

Experience in both in-house and private practice settings preferred

Proficient in U.S. and international patent rules and filing procedures

Strong legal document analysis and drafting skills

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency

Experience with tools such as MxHero, Box, Anaqua, or similar docketing systems preferred

Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills

High level of professionalism, integrity, and reliability
