We are a fast-paced Heavy-Duty Truck and Trailer Dealer. We are currently seeking a successful and driven professional to take on the Parts Manager opportunity. We are looking for an experienced Parts Manager to work full time to deliver quality customer service and experience at our Saginaw, MI location.
Manages parts operations within assigned Region to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing return on investment through parts sales, inventory control, and expense control. Optimizes parts department processes. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Team Development and Management - Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for all direct reports.
- Conduct one-on-one rounding meetings with direct reports on a regular basis.
- Works with direct reports to establish their annual goals that support the company strategy and are consistent with their role description.
- Conducts and documents annual performance reviews for direct reports.
- Support and administer company policies on a consistent basis.
- Coach and mentor individual staff members to improve individual's capabilities.
- Manages talent and constructs Individual Development Plan for all direct reports.
- Prepares, conducts and documents departmental meetings.
- Makes compensation recommendations for all direct reports.
- Provide backup operational support to Parts staff.
Inventory Management - Oversees Parts purchasing and parts inventory management.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and to minimize obsolescence loss to the organization.
- Leverage vendor relationships to ensure products are of a high quality and meet our customer expectations.
- Provides guidance to ensure parts inventory and core inventory is highly organized with fast moving parts near point of sale.
- Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures.
- Manages parts inventory aging and parts inventory investment levels to established departmental and company guidelines.
- Oversee dirty core inventory to ensure cores are organized and returned in a timely manner with proper consideration given to freight expense.
- Provides guidance to manage incoming freight expense and freight recovery income to achieve budget expectations.
- Provides guidance and oversite of all consignment inventory.
- Reviews lost sales with local parts staff periodically to confirm demand history.
- Monitors fill rate data and special-order parts to ensure proper stocking parameters.
- Reviews parts purchases from other vendors to determine stocking eligibility.
- Sets initial parts pricing and partners with our local managers and our outside sales team to maximize parts availability, revenue and margins.
- Manage Dealer Inventory Alliance (DIA), surplus returns (DIA, OIE, SIE, cores, etc.), implementation of cycle counting and consignment inventory management.
- Manage creative monthly visual parts display with current featured parts and/or seasonal items with all item's prices.
Business Development and Management - Direct support to the internal and external Parts Sales team and related initiatives.
- Supports the development of strong relationships with existing and new customers to maximize account retention and sales penetration.
- Supports Customer training events as scheduled.
- Proactively engages and resolves customer issues involving billing delivery, collection, and customer service, on a timely basis.
- Educates staff on all vendor-sponsored programs (International, OnCommand, Fleetrite, ReNEWed, Cummins, Fleet Charge, etc.)
- Participates in development of company marketing plan and promotions (i.e. MyEdge, Special Flyers, etc.).
- Supports Customer sales with, out-bound-calling program from the parts counter and through the Call Center, where it is applicable.
Departmental/Production Management - Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Work with outside sales, and local management s to maximize the efficiency of all parts delivery activities.
- Ensure company policies on returning parts ordered in error (OIE) and parts shipped in error (SIE) are followed consistently at all locations.
- Ensures all departmental tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working order.
- Maybe required to work evening, weekends, and holidays.
- Special projects as assigned by the Parts Director and/or the VP, Parts.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS /TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS- College degree or equivalent experience in medium and heavy-duty truck industry.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience (parts service, sales and inventory work)
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing within the department and other areas of the Company as necessary.
- Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Thorough understanding of financial principles relative to Parts Department operations preferred.
- Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
- Ability to use desktop load applications such as Microsoft office and internet functions.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.
- Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiples tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively lead and work as a member of a team
WORK CONTACTS:
Internal contacts will consist of co-workers, immediate and departmental managers and executives to collaborate on work initiatives, exchange and provide information and to present and discuss issues.
External contacts will consist of discussing parts/inventory related issues and concerns with customers and/or vendors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Directly supervises parts department employees (Counter Sales, Drivers, Warehouse). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to operate a Forklift.
