Job Summary

The Automotive Service Instructor is a member of the Workforce Training and Continuing Education staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and instructing students in various aspects of automotive technology, both hands-on training and theoretical knowledge. They will contribute to the development of curriculum, assess student performance, and provide valuable insights into industry trends.

Typical Job Functions
  • Deliver engaging and informative lectures on automotive technology principles, systems, and procedures.
  • Utilize multimedia tools and hands-on demonstrations to enhance the learning experience.
  • Oversee and guide students in practical applications of auto mechanic skills in the workshop.
  • Ensure a safe and organized learning environment in the automotive laboratory.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the automotive technology curriculum.
  • Integrate industry best practices and emerging trends into instructional materials
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and development.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance through examinations and practical assessments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified Master Mechanic
  • Substantial hands-on experience in auto mechanics and a strong understanding of industry standards.
  • Teaching or training experience in an educational setting
  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace
  • Willing to work on a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal with student issues and resolve problems
  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (CEI currently doesn't sponsor H-1B visas)

  • Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, gross manipulations (involves hands), climbing, crawling, squatting, driving, stooping, crouching, climbing ramps, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds, and standing or sitting (combination). Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes . Frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

    On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.Background Investigations
