We're looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Parks & Recreation Supervisor to oversee lifeguard operations and youth programming at Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC), one of Hillsboro's most popular recreation centers. What You'll Be Doing As the Parks & Recreation Supervisor - Aquatics, you will:
• Lead and supervise a diverse team of lifeguards and part-time staff.
• Oversee daily lifeguard schedules, rotations, coverage, and shift assignments.
• Manage staff onboarding, training, certifications, and evaluations.
• Support youth programming such as youth activity classes, junior lifeguarding, and camps.
• Coordinate facility space and swim meets, balancing internal programming with external user groups.
• Provide a strong on-deck presence during recreational swims, ensuring a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment.
• Address customer inquiries, resolve concerns, and model excellent service.
• Assist with budget forecasting, supply orders, and operational planning.
• Collaborate with other supervisors to maintain smooth, high-quality SHARC operations. Current & Upcoming Projects
• Leading the annual facility maintenance shutdown (late August-early September) and preparing for Fall programming.
• Recruiting, onboarding, and training staff for seasonal transitions.

Acceptable Experience and Training
You'll bring:
• A Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) or more years of recreation and/or programming experience in the assigned area of responsibility (aquatics).
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the role successfully. Required Licenses / Certifications:
• Current Lifeguard (includes CPR, First Aid, AED)
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record Required Certifications (within 6 months of hire)
• StarGuard Elite Lifeguard
• StarGuard Elite Lifeguard Instructor
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO)
• Food Handler's Card Preferred qualifications:
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred) Please note: This is considered a safety-sensitive position, and the selected candidate will be subject to pre-employment drug screening, physical, and other applicable background checks.
Additional Information
Work Schedule This is an on-site role at SHARC, working five days a week. The regular schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, with occasional weekend and/or before- or after-hours work. Hillsboro is committed to promoting work-life balance.
