Overview
As a Paralegal, you play a key role in managing the day-to-day progress of legal cases by providing critical support to attorneys and maintaining organization across litigation activities. You ensure timely and accurate filing of court documents, coordinate discovery processes, and uphold the high standards of legal communication and compliance required by the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and proofread legal documents including complaints, briefs, discovery responses, and correspondence for accuracy in citations, quotations, and formatting.
- Manage the filing and service of court documents, including summons and complaints, and track all proofs of service.
- Maintain up-to-date service lists for active cases.
- Draft subpoenas and discovery notices based on attorney instructions and oversee their timely service.
- Organize and manage incoming discovery materials, including documents from defendants and third parties, and track key information using charts and logs.
- Schedule depositions with court reporters and assist with the coordination of logistics.
- Provide flexible support and work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines and support litigation priorities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree and a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program required.
Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in legal research tools and litigation support software such as Lexis, Westlaw, Relativity, and EDGAR.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and internet research tools.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and software systems.
- Experience in a fast-paced legal environment with demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
