Commercial Real Estate Leasing Paralegal

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Draft and negotiate all lease-related documentation on behalf of Landlord/Owner. This includes creating leases, extensions, assignments, amendments, and correspondence, for prospective and existing regional and local tenants.
- Abstract leases, amendments, assignments, and other legal documents. Updating and entering relevant information in various internal logs, reports, and software programs.
- Assist property managers and leasing agents with lease interpretation and correspondence with tenants and vendors.
- Assist with workflow management and aid in creating and maintaining internal systems to efficiently and effectively manage a large volume of active lease files (both physical and electronic).
- Assist in due diligence effort when purchasing new assets.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Superb writing and drafting skills. Highly organized, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to think creatively, anticipate issues, and assess risks.
- Well-versed in commercial real estate verbiage and legal terminology. Proven experience drafting leases, reviewing and responding to tenant comments, and revising lease language.
- Proven ability to review, analyze, and abstract commercial leases and other legal contracts.
- Strong understanding of shopping center operations and lease terms, including, but not limited to, CAM terms, billing and reconciliations, tenant exclusives and restrictions.
- A minimum of 5 years of paralegal and lease administration experience in the commercial real estate industry, preferably with an emphasis on retail leasing.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience in MRI and Yardi a plus.
