Our client, a government regulatory agency, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Paralegal to support its External Appeals and Consumer Complaints division. The paralegal will evaluate applications, manage case files, conduct research, and serve as a liaison between consumers and insurance entities. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously. Evaluate External Appeal applications for eligibility under Insurance Law Article 49 and the Federal No Surprises Act. Request and review necessary documentation from relevant parties. Respond to inquiries and provide information on appeal processes and consumer rights. Investigate complaints against insurance companies by applying statutory mandates and policy provisions. Communicate findings to stakeholders upon completing investigations. Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files. Draft reports, handle correspondence, and manage follow-ups with internal and external parties. Assist in special projects, legal research, and perform other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Qualifications: Strong understanding or ability to quickly learn relevant legal and regulatory mandates. Paralegal certificate Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive assignments efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism in stakeholder interactions. High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Strong project management skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams). Punctuality and reliability in time and attendance are essential. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with insurance law or within a regulatory or legal environment. Previous case management experience or experience handling consumer complaints.
