The role you'll contribute:
The Intermediate Systems Engineer, under minimal levels of supervision, designs, installs, configures, implements and supports all aspects of the software environment of moderate complexity and/or manages all aspects of processes resolving issues of moderate complexity. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you'll bring to the team:
Performs monitoring, alerting, reporting, and trending of the Microsoft environment. Proactively identifies and resolves problems. Collects data and establishes facts in order to determine the cause of these problems.
Performs preventative maintenance while providing maximum availability including patching, updates, and/or configuration changes.
Participates in the change control process, as required.
Performs troubleshooting and issue resolution, capacity management and budgeting, business continuity and disaster recovering testing, and warranty tracking and maintenance.
Maintains documentation.
If AIX:
Sets up and supports backend application.
Sets up physical servers including operating system installs, racking, and cabling.
If Backup:
Performs data replication (swap, clone, SRDF, recover point).
Performs backup and recovery.
Performs Tivoli storage manager admin.
Performs data protection manager admin.
If Citrix:
Installs user applications on XenApp and XenDesktop.
Publishes applications.
Creates new user groups for applications.
Configures active directory group policies and Citrix policies.
Designs and constructs Citrix infrastructure.
Installs, configures, upgrades, and maintains Citrix Xenserver, Xen Application, Xen Desktop, Provisioning, Licensing, Terminal Servers, NEB interface, Storefront, Edgesight, SmartAuditor, Netscaler (Citrix vpx).
Builds and maintains test farm, production farm, and disaster recovery environment.
Reviews and evaluates newly released versions of infrastructure components.
Builds hardware replacements.
Supports vendor and departments in application upgrades.
Tracks Citrix and terminal server licenses.
Documents system components and application installations.
If Imaging:
Plans, organizes and manages all Imaging Information System implementations.
Trains end users on existing software and new products.
Provides security and maintenance of user profiles.
If Linux:
Performs middleware application setup and support for development teams.
Performs load balancing management.
Performs web app publishing management.
Performs database management.
If Messaging:
Installs, upgrades, and maintains exchange, wireless office, Rightfax, Symantec, Enterprise vault, and Symantec messaging gateway.
Tests and installs new messaging technologies.
Performs messaging administration activities.
If Microsoft:
Installs, upgrades, and maintains the following: Active Directory environment including DNS + DHCP. System center suite including virtual machine manager, configuration manager, operations manager, service manager, data protection manager, and app. controller. MS SharePoint environment. Radiant and token infrastructure.
Manages single sign-on solutions.
Manages group policies for servers and approves changes to desktop policies.
Scopes vendor requirements.
If RTLS:
Manages RTLS server components.
Maintains system performance and functionality.
Coordinates and oversees RTLS assignments. Manages and oversees implementation of RTLS assignments including existing infrastructure that needs extending or enhancing and some new technology.
Provides vendor oversight of required tasks.
Performs customer communication of impact of changes. Designs RTLS implementation. Works with vendor to establish cost estimates and assists customer with order processing. Plans and implements integration with other systems.
Performs other team administration responsibilities. Represents team at MIS change control and key meetings. Maintains documentation of key processes, policies and procedures.
Manages task implementation of RTLS projects.
If Server:
Provides cost estimates of servers.
Provisions new servers (virtual) by validating specification, requesting storage if required, and deploying the server.
Sets up physical servers including installations, racking, and cabling.
If Storage:
Performs storage provisioning.
Deploys new storage equipment including racking, and cabling.
Performs switch management including fabric management, zoning, IOS upgrades, and ISL configuration.
Performs data replication including swap, clone, SRDF, and recover point.
Performs NAS management including share management, quota management, and lost data recovery.
