Planet Interactive is looking for a Packaging Specialist for our retail client. This contract role will be roughly for 4 months and 40 hours a week. This role does require to be hybrid onsite in Framingham, MA.
The Packaging Specialist is an integral member of a cross-functional team who delivers trend forward brand packaging solutions, enabling the businesses and brands to evolve across global divisions. As the creative force responsible for driving the development of all packaging and branding across selected categories, this role will oversee supplier relationships to ensure the packaging quality and deadlines are met. Partners in collaboration with Product Development and Buyers in identifying and creating successful brand packaging.
Packaging Specialist Responsibilities
- Oversee the creation of trend forward brand packaging across various home categories.
- Partner with product development and merchandising to fill lifestyle needs by product category, and influence the organization on design decisions.
- Create compelling brand packaging alongside the Sr. Product Development Managers, Trend Teams and Divisional Manager
- Ensure the quality of the vendor's packaging through an established approval process and ensures all deadlines are met
- Create and direct brand packaging for a wide variety of products (boxes, hangtags, labels, etc).
- Follow-through from conception to shelf - providing approvals and overseeing successful execution of all components before press and delivery.
- Communicate with product development and regulatory teams throughout the design process, including reviewing and proofing packaging.
- Maintain a strict adherence to guidelines and deadlines. Establish parameters of acceptable tolerances in print/color/construction while developing and implementing methods to improve efficiencies.
- Manage the photography and photography requirements for packages. Direct styling, ensure photo quality, content, and that timeline requirements are met.
- Partner with legal and trademark administrator in researching new brand names, and ensures all legal/trademark requirements are met.
- Packaging Specialist QualificationsBFA or related degree in design preferred
- A minimum of 3 years design related experience
- Proven results managing multi-disciplinary design teams or designers
- Demonstrated experience guiding business stakeholders through the design process, delivering vision and adhering to brand integrity
- Ability to think across multiple platforms including product, merchandising and new forms of brand communication
- Management experience to influence, drive change and drive vision is required
- In depth knowledge of design and cultural trends to develop cohesive design solutions
- Excellent sense of color, type and style
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects and works well under pressure
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) as well as supporting office programs
