OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Our client is looking for an Outside Sales Representative who will work independently and is self-directed, while still operating as part of an integrated local sales team focused on delivering value to customers and achieving sales and margin growth expectations. You will apply your experience to drive growth in scale (i.e., customer base, broader market coverage) and ensure superior value is delivered to customers in support of primary demand efforts. Lastly, you will be responsible for promoting and selling distribution's full range of products, including engineered wood, commodities, and specialty building products.


WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key dealers and buyers, particularly with larger and more complex accounts.
  • Develop and execute customer strategies that drive value, increase share of wallet, and improve profitability.
  • Leverage market insights, industry connections, and expertise to identify opportunities across the full product portfolio.
  • Collect and analyze market intelligence to inform decisions on product offerings, pricing, inventory, and demand forecasting.
  • Plan and implement marketing initiatives with customers, including promotions, product updates, and service enhancements.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Demonstrated success managing major, complex accounts and building strong executive-level relationships.
  • Skilled in developing tailored programs, negotiating solutions, and enhancing customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Excellent communication skills-authentic, adaptable, and persuasive.
  • Strong analytical abilities to assess customer needs and create effective solutions using the company's products and services.
  • Proven team player who works effectively across departments and organizational levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of building materials and competitive product landscape.
  • Understanding of business profitability drivers and financial concepts related to retail, wholesale, and construction industries.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in outside sales within building materials distribution.

Must be able to work for a US based company without requiring visa sponsorship.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary range is $94,000 - $120,000 based on experience and qualifications, as well as geographical market and business considerations.
