Position: Outside Sales
Location: San Fernando Valley (Various Locations, In Field)
The Outside Sales Representative will focus on selling Ready Mix Concrete, Hot Mix Asphalt, Aggregate, and/or Recycled Base Materials within their assigned markets. This role offers the flexibility to specialize in a specific product line, such as Asphalt or Concrete, depending on the candidate's expertise and market demands. Success in this position requires a proactive professional who excels at driving sales, building strong relationships, and effectively representing the company in the marketplace.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Sales and Marketing
- Actively sell and market Ready Mix Concrete, Hot Mix Asphalt, Aggregate, and/or Recycled Base Materials.
- Identify customer needs and prepare detailed quotes tailored to project requirements.
- Project Tracking and Reporting
- Track projects from the bid stage to the award of material supplier.
- Report on current job progress and upcoming opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate market conditions to understand the competitive landscape.
- Customer Relationships
- Target and acquire new accounts while maintaining and strengthening existing relationships.
- Handle customer inquiries, disputes, and issues with professionalism and timely resolution.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including operations, dispatch, credit, and quality control, to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Market and Competitor Analysis
- Assist in estimating and reporting competitor feedback, market share, and backlogs.
- Provide feedback to the Sales Manager on market conditions, opportunities, and challenges.
- Field Presence
- Conduct regular job site and office visits to monitor project needs, identify potential customers, and maintain visibility in the field.
- Represent the company at industry events, workshops, and classes to build industry knowledge and relationships.
- Administrative Duties
- Submit daily activity and market feedback reports to the Sales Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in construction materials or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Goal-oriented, self-motivated personality with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with the construction industry, project bidding, and territorial management.
- Knowledge of Ready-Mix Concrete, Asphalt, Aggregate, and Recycled Base Materials is a strong advantage.
- Experience with market analysis and competitor tracking.
- Ability to adapt to various customer needs and tailor sales approaches accordingly.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
Market Areas:
- Ready Mix Concrete: Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley, Central Coast, Kern County, and the High Desert.
- Hot Mix Asphalt: Regions surrounding Upland and Palmdale, with an expanding customer base across throughout Southern California.
