Please note- The annual base salary range is $100k to $150k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) to join our client s team, working in both the clinic and operating room (OR). This role involves assisting in the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of orthopedic conditions, including injuries, degenerative diseases, and sports-related disorders. The PA will collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient evaluations, medical history reviews, and orthopedic physical exams.
- Assist in diagnosing and managing acute injuries, fractures, joint disorders, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative education to patients and families.
- Perform joint injections, aspirations, casting, splinting, bracing, and wound care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans.
- Develop treatment plans, including non-operative and post-surgical rehabilitation protocols.
- Assist in medication management and prescribe as appropriate within scope of practice.
- Document patient encounters accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Assist in orthopedic surgical procedures, including joint replacements, fracture fixations, arthroscopic surgeries, and ligament reconstructions.
- Act as a first or second assist, performing tasks such as retracting, suturing, and tissue handling.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, prepping, and draping in the OR.
- Maintain a sterile field and adhere to surgical protocols.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to optimize surgical efficiency.
- Monitor patients intraoperative progress and assist in postoperative stabilization.
Requirements:
- Master s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Active Physician Assistant license in NJ.
- Previous experience in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care preferred.
- Proficiency in casting, splinting, joint injections, and fracture management.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in both clinical and surgical settings.
