The TidalHealth Orthopedic team located in Seaford, DE is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the PACE (Pre-Operative Assessment Communication Education) Clinic program. The Nurse Practitioner will be in a high visibility role that will be responsible for pre-operative clearance for orthopedic surgeries of all types. The goal of this position is to help maintain patient engagement, reduce last minute cancelations, and get the patient prepped for surgery.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform histories & physicals for orthopedic patients for TidalHealth Nanticoke Orthopedic three-person Surgery team.
- Review of preoperative blood work to determine concerning results and address as appropriate.
- Review of OSAP results and prescribe Mupirocin 5 days preoperatively as needed.
- Assessment of required Durable Medical Equipment needs and ordering as appropriate.
- Prescribing postoperative medications in advance of scheduled surgery that includes multimodal pain plan, antiemetics, DVT prophylaxis and stool softeners.
- Assessment of physical therapy needs with emphasis on pre-hab and appropriate postoperative referral.
- Communication of socially complex patients to Case Management and the Inpatient APP team.
- Scheduling radiation with Cancer Center when required for heterotopic ossification prevention.
- Collaboration with surgeons regarding patients that are medically complex or when it is determined that additional optimization is needed.
- Placement of preoperative order set that is individualized to patient needs.
- Cross training to Inpatient APP role
Key Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice and active NP licensure
- Have a current license or must be able to obtain a Nurse Practitioner license in Delaware.
- Previous nursing and/or advanced practice provider experience in Orthopedics is preferred but not
- Comprehensive skills in customer service, clinical, and problem-solving.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and exceptional communication skills in collaboration with other members of the medical staff and administration.
