Contact: Judy Bolton, Sr. Technical Recruiter Mindbank Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator for a 100% onsite, direct hire position in Herndon, Virginia. This position requires an active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph. (Candidates without this clearance cannot be considered.) This position pays up to $147K and our client offers generous benefits. The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) will provide expert-level database administration support in a high-security environment. The DBA will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing Oracle databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with security standards. The role supports mission-critical systems by implementing disaster recovery solutions, troubleshooting performance issues, and collaborating with development and operations teams. Key Responsibilities & Duties (Have you done this type of work recently?) Database Administration & Management
• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database systems.
• Perform routine administration tasks, including patching, troubleshooting, backups, and ensuring high availability.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and apply Oracle STIGs.
• Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Performance Tuning & Technical Support
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues.
• Optimize SQL queries, PL/SQL scripts, and database performance.
• Support infrastructure components like storage, hardware, and networking.
• Conduct capacity planning to ensure future scalability. Security & Compliance
• Enforce security standards, including auditing, encryption, and access control.
• Work with security teams to ensure compliance with security policies. Collaboration & Process Improvement
• Work closely with development, business, and operations teams.
• Create and maintain documentation, including system configurations and troubleshooting steps.
• Participate in on-call support rotation for after-hours database troubleshooting.
• Stay updated on Oracle advancements, industry best practices, and cloud technologies.
• Provide mentorship to junior DBA staff. Position Requirements (You must meet these qualifications to be considered)
• US Citizen with an active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph (No exceptions)
• 100% onsite in Herndon, Virginia. (No exceptions.)
• Unexpired Security+ certification. (No exceptions.)
• BS in Computer Science or other relevant discipline.
• Oracle Database Expertise: Minimally six (6) years of experience with Oracle Database (19c+), including installation, configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
• Security & Compliance: Proven ability to apply Oracle STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) and meet security requirements.
• High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Experience with Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) and Data Guard for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
• Performance Tuning: Advanced SQL query optimization, PL/SQL scripting, and database performance tuning skills.
• Backup & Recovery: Expertise with Oracle RMAN (Recovery Manager) for backups, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Operating Systems & Virtualization: Experience administering Linux and Windows Server environments; familiarity with VMware or other virtualization platforms.
• Cloud & Migration: Knowledge of AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud, or migrating Oracle databases to cloud/virtualized environments.
• Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database performance, security, and operational issues.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Strong communication skills, ability to work with cross-functional teams, and proficiency in creating technical documentation.
