Savantage Solutions is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our high-quality team that delivers innovative solutions to our federal clients. The Oracle DBA will support Oracle-based financial software products. The position will support software maintenance of the database and application servers including installation, upgrades, and patching as well as support all application-related aspects of development, unit testing, integration testing, and production deployment.
Duties and Responsibilities: - 24x7 production database administration, support, and monitoring of a federal Oracle installation to ensure a stable, proactive environment.
- Monitor and mitigate security vulnerabilities. Implement security measures to meet/maintain STIG requirements and best practices.
- Prepare and execute an end-to-end technical refresh including Oracle 19 Real Application Cluster (RAC) database installation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 and migration of the existing 12.2 RAC database environment to the new hardware/ database.
- Plan, test and document Oracle client installations and upgrades for implementation on Citrix and virtual desktop environments.
- Write/implement shell scripts to monitor Oracle RAC availability, space utilization, alert logs, and trace files on RHEL.
- Monitor and maintain database incidents using Oracle tools (e.g., Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM), Automatic Diagnostic Repository Command Interpreter (ADRCI), Trace File Analyzer (TFA), etc.) and custom scripts.
- Schedule and perform maintenance/patching for all database, grid, and client instances.
- Monitor and maintain database related cron jobs to create and maintain a stable, clutter free environment and file system.
- Maintain and configure user accounts to include proper grants of profiles, roles, and privileges.
- Implement database architecture/schema changes as required by software development and sustainment requirements.
- Monitor, test, and tune disaster recovery and Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) backup processes as needed.
- Monitor and tune Oracle server memory as needed.
- Perform root cause analysis for issues, develop resolution strategies, and address issues timely.
- Collaborate with other teams, vendors, and customers to ensure project goals and milestones are achieved.
- Create and maintain standard operation procedure (SOP) documentation.
- Prepare routine status reports accurately and timely.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: The candidate must have: - 6+ years of experience in Oracle database administration.
- Obtain one foundation certification, such as Cloud Plus (Cloud+), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Security Plus (Security+) or GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).
- Obtain one Oracle certification such as Oracle DBA Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle DBA Certified Professional (OCP).
- Strong working knowledge of Oracle 12c and 19c Database Management System (DBMS) including Multitenant and RAC technologies.
- Experience with upgrading and patching Oracle databases, grid, and client software to meet security requirements and best practice.
- Experience with Oracle tools (ADDM, ADRCI, TFA, etc.) and custom scripts.
- Experience with Data Pump and RMAN backup and recovery utility.
- Experience with Data Guard configuration and monitoring.
- Monitor and tune database performance-related issues.
- Experience with Red Hat Linux 8 and shell scripting with SQL, PL/SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment and decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be a United States (U.S.) Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Requirements - Apache Tomcat and Web Server experience
- Experience with Teradata.
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Management tools.
Note: A BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution fulfills the foundational certification requirement for this position.
Compensation 150k - 180k (based on the National Capital Region)
