Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong background in Oracle to AWS cloud migrations and Linux system administration. This role is critical in supporting our ongoing cloud transformation initiatives and ensuring the performance, availability, and security of Oracle database systems hosted on AWS infrastructure.
You will be responsible for database architecture, cloud migration planning and execution, automation, and supporting our infrastructure team with Linux-based system administration tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c) in both on-prem and AWS environments.
- Plan, lead, and execute Oracle to AWS database migration projects using tools such as AWS DMS, RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle GoldenGate.
- Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions in AWS (e.g., Oracle RAC to Amazon RDS or EC2-based architecture).
- Configure, monitor, and tune databases for optimal performance using OEM, AWR, and other diagnostics tools.
- Perform database cloning, patching, upgrades, backups, and restores using RMAN and AWS-native backup services.
- Automate routine DBA and Linux admin tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux, or CentOS) supporting Oracle infrastructure.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud Engineering teams to design secure, scalable, and cost-effective database solutions in AWS.
- Maintain database security, compliance (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2), and audit documentation.
- Provide on-call support as part of a rotating schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA.
- 2+ years of experience with Oracle to AWS cloud migration projects.
- Strong understanding of AWS services relevant to databases (EC2, S3, RDS, DMS, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.).
- Proficiency in Linux system administration and scripting (Bash, Shell, or Python).
- Experience with Oracle tools such as RMAN, Data Pump, GoldenGate, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
- Knowledge of database security, encryption, and access control practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Database Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Cloud certifications.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Knowledge of containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
