Role Purpose:

Be the lead process engineer with full accountability for development and production release of new optical transceiver products for harsh environment applications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of manufacturing release (drawings, instructions, method route, labour timings etc).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on manufacturing technologies, interfacing with design, manufacturing departments as well as with customers for multi-channel optical communications products.
  • Working with the quality group, define and execute qualification plans to release new products/capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor / master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering / electronics discipline or relevant experience.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in multichannel package assembly of opto-electronic sub systems at fibre to die level.
  • Experienced in developing new products through to full volume production release.
  • Able to coordinate activities during development and improvement activities to drive down cost.
  • Good awareness of manufacture processes and equipment related to fibre products manufacture.
  • Working knowledge of materials and technologies related to ceramic and thick film, MCM and PCB based solutions.
  • Ideally lean manufacturing familiar, used to tools such as PFMEA and process flow mapping.
  • Specific experience on alignment of multiple fibre arrays (4, 8 or 12) would be preferential.

  • High initiative - requires minimal prompting and keen to learn.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and cope with new and changing demands.

Other requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • SC clearance or ability to obtain.
