Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced optical engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics, with a focus on optical system analysis, and possess practical experience in analyzing optical and mechanical tolerances. This role requires expertise in microscopy imaging using off-the-shelf (OTS) components, as well as absorption and fluorescent measurement using photometric methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize optical systems for various applications.
- Conduct optical and mechanical tolerance analysis, including tolerance stack-up, simulations, and sensitivity analysis, to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Imaging Optics, Design Optics, Run simulation
- Integrate and test microscopy imaging systems using OTS components.
- Perform absorption and fluorescent measurements using photometric methods.
- Utilize optical and mechanical software tools for system design and analysis.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot optical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
- Work with third-party design houses and machine shops to design, fabricate, and test components and systems.
- Document design processes, test results, and technical reports.
Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in physics, optical engineering, or a related field. Fresh out of school PHD would be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in optical system design and analysis.
- Design imaging system for the microscope and familiarity with tools, Zemax
- Proficiency in optical and mechanical tolerance analysis methodologies, including tolerance stack-up, simulations, and sensitivity analysis.
- Apply knowledge and practice experience of imaging optics design, interference, and distortion to improve system performance.
- Experience in optical system evaluation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge and experience of image processing techniques and tools such as Python, Matlab
- Familiarity with optical design software (e.g., Zemax) and mechanical design software (e.g., CAD tools).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
