Ophthalmology Opportunity in Southeast Alaska Position: Ophthalmologist Location: Southeast Alaska Setting: Outpatient Clinic & Surgical Opportunity Highlights: Provide comprehensive ophthalmology services, including evaluations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures Collaborate with optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure multidisciplinary care Participate in quality assessment, improvement initiatives, and medical staff functions Guide policy development and advise on equipment acquisition for program needs Opportunity for travel to field clinic sites within Southeast Alaska Schedule & Patient Care: Primary Focus: Comprehensive ophthalmology, including glaucoma, retinal and corneal conditions, macular degeneration, oculoplastics, and autoimmune pathologies Surgical Procedures: Cataract and retinal surgeries within facility capabilities Consultations: Provide ophthalmology consults to our providers and optometrists Educational Involvement: Provide annual educational programs to medical staff Requirements: Education: Completion of medical school and accredited ophthalmology residency Licensure: Active Alaska medical license Board Certification: Board Certified or Eligible Experience: Minimum of 2 years in clinical and surgical ophthalmology settings Certifications: Alaska State Medical Board Physician License Skills & Abilities: Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills Effective communication and collaboration with medical professionals and support staff Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and standards for medical and surgical ophthalmology Additional Details: Benefits: Generous benefits package, including retirement, PTO, parental leave, health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage Community Engagement: Work with leadership to develop and promote ophthalmology services in multiple communities Quality Improvement: Participate in peer review and quality initiatives This opportunity offers a fulfilling career with a strong support system and the ability to make a significant impact on patient care in Southeast Alaska.
