POSITION SUMMARY

We are a fast paced, growing Retina Practice looking a person who can work with a diverse group of individuals. The ophthalmic technician works directly in patient care and with physicians. They must have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, be highly motivated, dependable and have an ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment, this candidate must be able to travel to local satellite locations. Compensation based on experience, and medical experience is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist physician as indicated below:

Screening patients

Perform OCT within six (6) months

Perform FA within twelve (12) to fifteen (15) months

Effectively communicates and explains procedures to patients

Prepare for procedures and documentation

Complete patient paper work (forms, insurance, letters, etc.)

Assessing charts for completion and compliance before filing

Acquire certifications necessary for Medicare compliance

Practices with ethical and legal guidelines

Accept direction from supervisor and adheres to established routines

Must be able to travel

Maintain travel equipment

Maintain patient confidentiality

Return patient phone calls

Refer situations beyond ability to proper person

Maintain exam rooms (cleaning, stocking)

Assists with housekeeping of clinic

Fill in wherever needed

Team player and participates with others to accomplish tasks

Makes a positive contribution to morale

Seek educational opportunities and accepts responsibility for own professional growth and development

After hours emergency call phone

Scribing

Other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Ophthalmic Tech will work primarily in a clinic setting. Travel required (see TRAVEL).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to lift patients with assistance (occasionally)

TRAVEL

Travel required to satellite locations and possible outside trainings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED

Bilingual is strongly preferred

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

For someone who has experience in the medical field, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry

CERTIFICATIONS

MA preferred

Phlebotomy preferred

COA preferred
