Client is a well-respected and highly regarded organization within the Northeast United States that works closely with OEMs and Military Contractors.


Currently seeking a premiere candidate to oversee operations in a 55,000 square foot facility in Central NY. The operation has a focus on distribution, fabrication, and value added services - servicing customer accounts in central & southern New England.


Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Development

  • Identify gaps in operational processes, skills, or resources and take proactive steps to address them through planning, delegation, or investment proposals.
  • Design and implement strategies to improve productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that align operational capacity with future business needs and growth goals.
  • Develop scalable systems and programs to support continuous improvement, talent development, and cost control.

Workforce Direction & Accountability

  • Directly lead and coach department leads, supervisors, and support staff to execute strategic and daily goals.
  • Delegate responsibility for production, quality, planning, maintenance, and warehouse activities while ensuring clear accountability and follow-up performance.
  • Build a culture of ownership, discipline, and results through consistent leadership and development of key personnel.

Operations Planning & Execution

  • Oversee the development and management of production schedules, staffing plans, and material flow to meet customer commitments.
  • Monitor KPIs and other performance data to assess execution against strategic goals; ensure teams are addressing issues and driving results.
  • Coordinate with Planning, Sales, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure alignment of operations with business objectives.

Quality & Process Improvement

  • Lead the facility's overall quality direction through oversight of the Quality Assurance Lead (direct report).
  • Drive quality improvement strategies, root cause resolution programs, and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Build quality into the culture and processes through team-based ownership and preventive systems.

Facility Oversight & Future Readiness

  • Ensure the facility is maintained to high standards of safety, functionality, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Develop and lead facility improvement plans that support growth, including layout enhancements, equipment upgrades, and safety initiatives.
  • Prioritize capital needs and facility investments through data-driven planning and ROI assessments.

Lean, 5S, and Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as the champion for Lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving efforts.
  • Develop and roll out continuous improvement programs that engage the workforce and yield measurable gains.
  • Institutionalize 5S standards and drive cultural adoption through leadership, audits, and ownership

Safety Leadership

  • Oversee the safety program, including training, audits, and behavioral reinforcement.
  • Lead the team in building a proactive safety culture with zero tolerance for unsafe practices.
  • Ensure proper delegation of safety inspections, maintenance, and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities (Driven Through Delegation & Oversight

  • Strategic planning and project execution for operational excellence.
  • Talent Development, coaching, and succession planning for department leads.
  • Productivity, throughput, and efficiency improvements across all departments.
  • Facility management and capital project planning.
  • Quality system performance and customer service satisfaction metrics.
  • Safety program ownership and team accountability enforcement.
  • KPI reporting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement direction.
  • Perform sample inspections of packaged products to ensure proper preparation before shipments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; an MBA is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the metals industry.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of prior management and/or leadership experience is preferable.
  • Proficiency with software systems including MS Office, database management, and other business-related systems.
  • Self-directed and capable of prioritizing opportunities and performing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • A quick learner and ability to communicate with a diverse clientele group.
  • Proactive, solutions oriented.
  • Good presentation skills and ability to communicate concisely.
  • High energy and positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Due to contractual clauses with current customers, the candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
