Operations manager is accountable for supporting the manufacturing team, providing direct and timely feedback, coaching and mentoring the team, transacting production schedule, assigning work, maintaining performance, managing departmental metrics, and support the company leadership. This position reports to the Director of Operations.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY


• Overseeing and improving safety of operations and compliance to standards


• Foster an environment of eliminating risks


PRODUCTION


• Supervising and coordinating daily operations within the manufacturing facility


• Facilitating production in accordance to defined production schedule


• Monitor, communicate, and control compliance to production schedule


PERFORMANCE


• Manage workflows and work loading to maximize efficiency (earned ratio)


• Drive implementation of process improvements


• Implement continuous improvement to increase earned ratio


TRAINING


• Drive implementation, support, and management of employee cross-training


• Oversee and track training of production personnel


FACILITY & EQUIPMENT


• Conducting regular inspections of machinery and equipment - document non-compliances. Ensure timely repair and maintenance of equipment


• Maintain clean and organized facility


COMMUNCIATION


• Toolbox talks


• Post and maintain hourly performance metrics


• Provide timely and direct feedback to employees


• Communicate production expectation to the employees


• Communicate performance at the end of each day to leadership team


LEADERSHIP


• Ensuring compliance with company policies and standards


• Preparing and reviewing operational reports to ensure accuracy and efficiency.


• Provide timely and direct feedback to employees


• Conduct employees review and career development plans to prescription


• Foster a team-oriented environment.


KEY TASKS AND DUTIES:

The daily tasks and duties of the Operations Manager are essential for the seamless operation of manufacturing activities.

These tasks include:


• Ensure the safety of all employees and reducing risks


• Conduct weekly (at a minimum) toolbox talks


• Schedule resources and personnel to achieve defined production schedule


• Maintain focus on achieving customer requirements


• Communicate to Plant Manager pre-shift performance forecast


• Addressing and resolving issues related to employee performance and production processes


• Evaluate and document material noncompliance - drive root cause corrective action


• Escalate performance issue to mitigate impact on performance


• Monitor and post hourly performance to schedule and efficiency


• Communicate across departments (scheduling, materials, engineering) to ensure success


• Post and communicate OT requirements to fulfill customer demand (per defined timeline)


• Elevate production related issues to mitigate impact


• Provide timely and accurate feedback to employees


• Supply leadership with employee performance records, machinery data, and production outputs.


• Ensure manufacturing floor cleanliness, organized, and operating safely


• Collaborate with HR to define staffing requirements (monthly at a minimum)


• Conduct frequent audits of Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Material flow


• Ensure all employee clocking activities are accurate at the end of each shift


• Communicate end-of-shift schedule and productivity performance to applicate team members


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:


• Minimum 5 years of experience leading / supervising teams - sheet metal fabrication / machining.


• Comfortable with administering rules and policies.


• Desire to provide timely, fair, and accurate feedback to employees and leadership


• Ability to solve problem to improve performance


• Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes with mechanical aptitude.


• Ability to utilize ERP systems and Microsoft Applications


• Ability to analyze data to drive root cause corrective action and employee feedback.


• Driven individual who is personable and a team player.


Compensation consists of a base salary plus performance driving annual bonus, proportionate to the applicable experience.
