The Operations Manager will oversee the organization's manufacturing machine shop operations as my client aims to establish the company as a leading force in the industry. As the Operations Manager, they will manage the operations of the machine shop and oversee the safety, quality, cycle time, and on-time delivery of products.

My client is an innovative manufacturer of specialty heat treated and cooled metals for applications in many industries, especially oil/gas and aerospace & defense. The company is steadily growing and offers room for growth for its employees.

Description

This position will report directly into the Director of Operations and be responsible for:


  • Achieving department goals related to safety, quality, cycle time, and on-time delivery

  • Planning and directing area operations to ensure safe and efficient performance

  • Applying leadership skills to guide, motivate, and train team members

  • Managing schedules and overseeing workforce activities in the assigned area, including machining completion

  • Evaluating employee performance in the metal forming department, implementing improvement plans, and administering disciplinary actions when necessary

  • Assisting in the creation of work instructions for all metal forming processes

  • Monitoring processes and tasks to identify issues and find areas for improvement

  • Identifying, planning, and leading improvement initiatives using continuous improvement tools

  • Maintaining a safety-conscious culture by raising awareness, identifying hazards, and addressing unsafe practices

  • Working closely with other departments to meet on-time delivery goals and ensure smooth production flow




Profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of Leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong familiarity with machine shop operations, particularly lathe work
  • Metallurgy or metal forming background preferred
  • GD&T, problem solving and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Fork Lift certification preferred but not required
