Our Nashville based client is interviewing for a Director of Operations, in the local Nashville area.

  • This person will drive the growth and expansion of the Septic tank installation and horizontal site development divisions of the company.
  • This role will effectively manage all aspects of the company operations and be instrumental in all aspects of the company's success & growth.
  • The position requires strong & decisive leadership skills, experience with managing equipment & maintenance, construction excavation/site-work teams and all projects in current operations.
  • The candidates' knowledge of heavy equipment, customer service, client development/retention as well as a deeply ingrained sense of urgency will be critical to this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of field personnel, ensuring productivity, adherence to safety protocols, and high-quality workmanship
  • Supervise development efforts to keep project within design, budget and schedule expectations
  • Develop and maintain customer and vendor relationships
  • Identify and call on prospective customers to drive sales growth
  • Problem-solve on the fly with crews as issues arise
  • Coordinate with equipment rental companies as needed

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule equipment repairs to minimize machine downtime
  • Maintain materials inventory and order additional parts as needed
  • Recruit and hire personnel alongside crew leads
  • Prepare estimates for prospective project with review of specifications, drawings, and takeoff information
  • Negotiate change orders when needed
  • Ensure quick and accurate billing alongside the shared finance team

  • Sense of urgency to address customer complaints, provide project bids, and drive completion of projects
  • Excellent customer service and responsiveness to client needs

Requirements:

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within the excavation or construction industry
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment, and safety standards (preferred)

Compensation Overview:

  • Bonus: Potential of up to 10% of salary
  • Location: Nashville, TN (Office), current job sites are in adjoining counties
