Job Summary
Our Operations Engineer collaborates with the company's production system to optimize processes and enhance efficiency. The role emphasizes the implementation of cost-effective manufacturing methods and tools to foster a culture of continuous improvement across the plant. The Operations Engineer oversees the direction, coordination, and evaluation of Continuous Improvement efforts within their assigned area of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and sustain Continuous Improvement initiatives, including reducing cycle times, minimizing scrap, and enhancing processes.
- Support the training, coaching, and mentoring of employees in lean methodologies, as well as lead lean manufacturing programs and initiatives across the plant, such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and workstation efficiency improvements.
- Utilize statistical analysis and mathematical modeling to evaluate current manufacturing processes, forecast future states, assess staffing needs, and establish production standards.
- Contribute to the planning and design of new production line locations and layouts.
- Develop standard operating procedures, work-in-progress (WIP) standards, and value stream maps.
- Facilitate Continuous Improvement workshops for designated areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management or an Engineering discipline from an accredited four-year institution.
- At least 3 years of experience applying lean principles in a manufacturing environment.
- Working experience with Toyota Production Systems or similar methodologies
- Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong communication skills
