Job Description:

The Operations Data Analyst role at Ocean State Job Lot ("OSJL" and "Company") is focused on empowering Store Operations with data. This position involves developing reports, analyzing key data insights, and training teams to make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and coordinate all Store Operations performance reporting with a focus on creating a comprehensive portfolio of reports.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from various sources to various destinations.
  • Create engaging reports using appropriate data metrics, key performance indicators and visualizations that provide key insights to the audience and inform quality business decisions.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency through rigorous data validation and quality checks as well as resolve any data discrepancies.
  • Liaise with the Business Intelligence team on operations reporting needs and serve as operations subject matter expert, including the creation and input on reporting requirements.
  • Regularly review business data and apply statistical techniques to identify trends and patterns then communicate findings to corporate and field store operations team members as appropriate.
  • Apply BADIR data process and other recognized analysis techniques to complex business questions.
  • Develop data models to forecast future business performance, needs and required resources.
  • Actively collaborate with data analysts in other departments to ensure comprehensive and consistent reporting on store performance metrics without duplication of effort.
  • Collaborate with the corporate Merchandising Department to produce and communicate reporting that drives store merchandising execution.
  • Educate corporate, field and store teams on data interpretation and report use.
  • Support Operations Planning & Analysis Manager to execute on and improve upon all Store Operations budgeting efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • 3 or more years experience in a retail setting is preferred.
  • Experience in writing business requirements, functional specification, and testing documents is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and coordination skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize, work creatively, and perform tasks in solving problems in time-critical situations are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects is required.
  • Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
  • Experience with SQL and/or other relational databases.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet knowledge is required.
  • Solid quantitative skills are required.
  • Strong organizational agility skills to navigate complex environments are required.
  • Strong office productivity software knowledge and experience are required.
Work Environment:
  • Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
    potential.
  • Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
  • Hybrid work option: Some work may be completed outside of the Company locations, with at least three (3) days a week in the Corporate Office. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. The role may also bring their own device(s) to complete all work (e.g., all computer hardware and software, including audio and video capabilities for virtual meetings; and reliable internet connection with ability to access the Google platform for virtual meetings and applications used for work).

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000. Salary commensurates with years of experience.
