What You'll Do:

As the Operations Compliance and Risk Manager, you will proactively manage Coastal Ridge's risk and support Operations in a constantly changing business and regulatory environment. You will identify financial, safety, and security risks and systematically reduce those risks through thoughtful planning, problem solving, and insurance coverage. You will ensure that Coastal Ridge and the legal entities it manages are compliant with all relevant state and local laws, work with lenders and brokers to obtain appropriate insurance policies to mitigate risk and actively manage the incident report and insurance claims processes from beginning to end. Reporting to the Managing Director, General Counsel, this role will drive positive impact on corporate and property operations.

What You'll Own:
  • Identify financial, safety, or security risks across the company and its portfolio of multifamily apartment communities nationwide.
  • Manage Coastal Ridge's and properties' insurance needs, which includes identification, placement, and renewal of cost-effective coverages. Ensure all insurance reporting, invoicing and allocation requirements are met, including, but not limited to, premiums, broker fees, audits, lawsuits, certificates of insurance, and notices of insurance.
  • Prepare and execute action plans to decrease identified risk factors, including identifying level of risk and prioritizing high risk areas.
  • Partner with the properties and National Maintenance Manager to develop tangible, achievable property risk reduction goals.
  • Manage, from beginning to end, all aspects of insurance claims on behalf of Coastal Ridge and properties.
  • Collaborate with Managing Director, General Counsel on risk identification/contract issues and litigated/potentially litigated claims.
  • Evaluate existing policies and procedures to find areas of opportunity and collaborate with business leaders to make enhancements.
  • Support property operations through frequent communication with property and regional managers, and provide guidance in response to daily property-level incidents.
  • Ensure business entity compliance with federal, state and local laws, including EPA and affordable housing requirements, and other unique property-specific risks.
  • Other duties as directed and assigned by General Counsel, President, or Managing Partners.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, insurance, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in risk management role in property investment and management or similar industry.
  • In depth knowledge of real estate investing/property management industry and associated risks.
  • Strong knowledge of all types of business insurance, insurance markets, and brokers including experience managing property, general liability, worker's compensation, and partnership liability insurance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
