Working Hours: Standard Responsibilities: The Operational Requirements Analyst will support the USSF Headquarters Staff, office of the Chief of Strategy and Resourcing (CSRO), Directorate of Space Requirements (S5R). The USSF is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands. The Directorate of Requirements is responsible for developing and integrating Joint Space Requirements for the DoD. The Candidate will:
• Interface and perform duties to support the Service integration with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS).
• Participate in the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) process, to include attending Functional and Joint Capabilities Boards (FCB/JCB) as the USSF representative.
• Author, edit, review, staff and assess capability development products such as Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Developments Documents (CDDs), CDD Annexes, Rapid Prototyping Requirements Documents (RPRD), and Space Force Requirements Documents (SFRD)
• Advise senior leadership in planning, developing, and coordinating capabilities development process actions with the CSRO
• Synthesize data analytics to assess and provide feedback on the capability development artifacts for each program within your requirements branch Required: Demonstrated understanding of Space enterprise to include DoD requirements, acquisition, and budgeting processes and applicable Defense Space guidance and policy.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, lead and execute requirements projects and out brief results to senior leadership. -
The candidate will be capable of applying principles, theories and concepts related to beyond line-of-sight (BLOS) long range fires and space architectures (i.e. sensing, MILSATCOM, C2, etc.) that enable them to develop capability requirements for USSF programs
Experience in the operational practice of utilizing advanced military technology and intelligence to detect, track, and engage targets at extremely long distances with a high degree of precision and speed; basically, the ability to identify and strike a target from a far-off location with minimal delay.
This could include experience in one or more of the following areas: Utilizing sophisticated sensors like satellites, drones, radars, and signals intelligence to detect and track potential targets at great distances
Integrating data from multiple sensors to create a comprehensive picture of the target, enabling rapid decision-making
Utilizing AI and machine learning algorithms to quickly identify and verify targets amidst clutter
Seamless communication between sensors, decision-makers, and weapon systems across diverse platforms to rapidly coordinate attacks
Employing precision-guided missiles, hypersonic weapons, or other weapons capable of engaging targets at extended ranges
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent, plus 10+ yrs. applicable experience in Service, COCOM, and/or Joint Capabilities development
TS with SCI eligibility required Desired: Master's degree in Aerospace or a STEM field.
15+ years experience in an Ops, engineering, scientific, analysis, policy or planning field related to Defense Space
HQ AF/SAF staff experience within the past 3 years
Experience editing Joint Requirements documentation
Experience with space system Acquisitions
