OpenText System Administrator


Under the direction of the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) Product Manager, the responsibility of the OpenText team is to provide a standardized, scalable, and secure information management platform to manage the protected information needs of the Port Authority of NY & NJ (Agency).

The position of the OpenText Content Server System Administrator (OT Sys Admin) will have an important role in the development & support of next generation cloud-based applications built on the OpenText Content Server platform. The OT Sys Admin will implement information enterprise management strategies and work closely with other technical teams within the Technology department to address OpenText platform technical requirements. The ideal OT Sys Admin candidate is an IT professional who has worked in mid-scale technical environments; seasoned experience in implementing solutions and a rigorous approach to deploying solutions in the OpenText Content Server Suite. This technical role requires extensive technical hands-on experience, followership, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Principle Responsibilities:
  • Designing, implementing, and providing on-going support for Open Text's Archive Server
  • Provide on-going support for Open Text's xECM for SAP
  • Designing, implementing, and providing on-going support for Open Text's Vendor Invoice Management (VIM)
  • Performing daily system administration of the OpenText xECM for SAP environment, including configuration management, system monitoring and performance, auditing and reporting of user actions, and review of system logs for malicious activities
  • Provisioning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and OpenText Content Server Content Server v22. inclusive of 3rd-party add-in modules
  • Designing, implementing, and providing on-going support for Open Text's BRAVA. Server
  • Customize SmartView
  • Possess excellent knowledge and experience of OpenText's Content Server
  • Be familiar with Oracle and/or SQL scripting.
  • Have knowledge of customization of the Content Server
  • Have practical experience of BPM, ECM, Document Management
  • Assist, contribute and coordinate requirements and design discussions with the customer as necessary.
  • Be responsible for test installations (including clusters), configurations and customization of Content Server
  • Deliver the projects within time and budget constraints whilst maintaining a strong eye for details
  • Develops and deploys various types of configuration and application components including data/object models, security, workflow/business process components, user interfaces, OpenText Web Forms and Live Reports
  • Design and implement efficient and streamlined workflows within the OpenText Content Server.
  • Configure and optimize workflow processes to enhance organizational productivity.
  • Develop and customize live reports and web reports within the OpenText Content Server.
  • Implement and maintain records management policies and procedures within the OpenText Content Server.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for records management.
  • Design and enforce record retention schedules and disposition workflows.
  • Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Proactively using monitoring tools for optimization and capacity utilization of the search engines and indices and analyze collected data for continuous improvement.
  • Participation in and execution of Disaster Recovery exercises
  • Assist in performing root-cause-analysis and troubleshooting to include document recovery, notification, audit capabilities and system errors of OpenText systems
  • Understanding the environment from a business perspective to aid in troubleshooting and problem resolution directly with end user and also via Service Desk ticket assignments
  • Lead team members with preparation of procedures, scripts, and other knowledge-based articles for Service Desk's problem resolutions
  • Performing account management inclusive of on-boarding and off-boarding for the OpenText platform
  • Configure users and groups, determining system privileges and access controls
  • Providing assistance to Content Managers in designing new data structures and permission/access controls
  • Configuring, managing, troubleshooting, and supporting technologies such as: Apache Tomcat, IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory, Azure, and Office 365
  • Robust understanding of networking, network security, and data encryption
  • Provide afterhours business continuity support during emergencies.
