Project Summary:
We are seeking an experienced OpenTelemetry Observability Engineer to lead the implementation of a unified enterprise observability strategy. This initiative aims to eliminate existing monitoring tool silos and enable end-to-end visibility across complex workloads hosted on-premises, in AWS, and in Azure.
Using OpenTelemetry as the foundational layer, you will design and implement observability pipelines that stitch together trace spans and logs across the full lifecycle of enterprise business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and deploy an OpenTelemetry-based observability ecosystem
- Instrument applications and infrastructure with OTel for traces, logs, and metrics
- Configure and manage OTel collectors, exporters, and receivers
- Integrate OpenTelemetry into tools like:
- ELK Stack, Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Honeycomb
- AWS ADOT and Azure AMBA
- Develop trace correlation strategies to monitor business process flows
- Provide guidance to development and DevOps teams on best practices in observability
- Support deployment of observability features in cloud-native architectures
- Use Terraform to manage observability infrastructure as code
Required Skills & Experience:
OpenTelemetry Expertise
- Deep knowledge of OpenTelemetry specification and architecture
- Hands-on with instrumentation, receivers, collectors, and exporters
- Capable of building e2e observability flows using OTel data
Tooling Integration
- Integration experience with monitoring and logging tools such as:
- ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
- Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Honeycomb
- AWS ADOT, Azure AMBA
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Solid experience with AWS and Azure observability services
- Background in cloud-native application deployment
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning
Programming Skills
- Proficient in at least one of the following: Python, Go, Java, JavaScript
- Able to build and maintain custom telemetry instrumentation
