Job Description Summary IMPORTANT NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST be currently enrolled at ULV and have a FEDERAL WORK STUDY award to be eligible for this position. The Ontario City Library is seeking individuals who are passionate about helping others learn technology, DIY and new skills.
Makerspace assistants provide one-on-one assistance to teens and adults with the use of makerspace equipment such as 3D printers, a laser cutter, Cricut, virtual reality devices, sewing machines, and other similar equipment. Experience with software programs such as Inskscape, RDWorks, Adobe Photoshop, iMovie, and knowledge of basic coding is a plus.
Computer assistants provide individual assistance to the public on the use of the library's public computers and public checkout laptops, navigating online, printing, and copying. May also assist library patrons in the use of library related apps, databases, and resources, and troubleshoot personal device connectivity issues.
Availability:
Must be available at least one day/week to work in-person at the library. This position is available at the
Ovitt Family Community Library.
Specific Duties - Assist library staff with general makerspace operations
- Assist with program setup/cleanup
- Assist in organizing and maintaining makerspace supplies
- Assist the general public in the use of computers, printers, and navigating online resources
- Assist library staff in troubleshooting technical problems
- Submit IT help tickets as needed
Minimum Qualifications-Ability to pass a fingerprint review (background check) as necessary

Preferred QualificationsDepending on the task(s):
-Comfortable with children and teens
-Organized and detail oriented with a high level of accuracy
-Customer service and/or clerical experience
-Adept with computers and technology
-Experience with MS Office; attaching/uploading documents like resumes and saving files to a flash drive
-Ability to set up free email accounts
-Experience with 3D printers and scanners, laser cutters, robotics, coding and sewing machines.
-Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for creating flyers
-Photography experience
-Experience writing copy for social media and marketing
-Graphic design experience
Benefits SummaryEmployees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
