The NM State Land Office has a Non-Emergency Telework Policy, which allows eligible employees to telework up to twenty-four (24) hours a week consistent with the agency's business needs.

Why does the job exist?

The core mission of the New Mexico State Land Office (NMSLO) is to responsibly generate revenue through a wide array of leasing activities on state trust lands on behalf of public schools, universities and hospitals. This position will be in the Oil, Gas & Minerals Division to assist the Division staff in operational administration, including financial transactions, customer service, lease sale, web postings, preparation of documents for circulation, and vendor management; help ease and improve office efficiencies for all Division employees. This position assists the Units/Communitization Manager to organize and track all documentation and data related to units, communalizations, and commingling agreements and works with the Records Division to properly record appropriate documents.

How does it get done?

This position inputs data into the Royalty Accounting Processing System (RAPS). Completes Purchase Orders, travel requests and reimbursements, orders supplies and works with other divisions and vendors, as needed. Triage calls and centralized questions and databases regarding oil and gas. Reviews and analyzes data. Inputs data into Land Office databases and manually inputs data, per Land Office policy, into tract books. May assist with various scheduling.

Who are the customers?

Internal: Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division; Administrative Services; Commercial Division; Legal Division; Surface Resources Division; and executive State Land Office management officials (Office of the Commissioner).

External: New Mexico public schools, universities and hospitals; individuals; general public; lessees (agricultural, oil and gas companies, commercial, rights-of-ways); natural resource authorization users; program enrollees; hunters; other government entities (state, federal, city, county, tribal).

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:
-Experience in office management and databases and maintaining records.
-Experience working on purchase orders and travel documentation.
-Ability to work with a diverse group of technical and administrative staff.
-Significant customer service experience.

Minimum Qualification

Associate degree and two (2) years of experience in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Some travel may be required.
