We are seeking an experienced and versatile candidate to join our team. This position involves handling a broad range of responsibilities, and an ideal candidate will play a crucial role managing administrative tasks, office management for a small office (5-15 employees daily), human resources functions (onboarding, payroll processing, employment inquiries, recruiting and candidate screenings, responding to state employment department communications, timesheet & PTO tracking), and insurance document management. This starts as a full time in-office role with the potential of being a hybrid role.
Responsibilities:
Office Management/Admin:
- Oversee office supplies, ensuring an organized and well-equipped workspace.
- Participate in file organization and retention procedures.
- Assist with office-related tasks, such as managing schedules for conference rooms and coordinating office events.
- Other tasks as needed by management.
Payroll Processing:
- Execute end-to-end payroll processing for our 60+ employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Manage time and attendance tracking systems.
Recruiting and Candidate Screenings:
- Assist in the recruitment process, from job postings to candidate screenings and handling employment inquiries.
- Complete all new hire onboarding and ensure proper document completion and retention practices are being followed.
- Perform basic laptop setup for new employees.
Human Resources:
- Provide information on policies, benefits, and other HR-related matters as requested by Salon Republic personnel.
- Respond to state unemployment claims and inquiries.
- Research, maintain, and enforce company policies, including but not limited to vacation and sick time policies, travel per diem, and compliance with minimum wage laws.
- Respond to notices/claims and participate in employment hearings on behalf of the company.
Qualifications:
- Experience in HR, payroll administration, and office management.
- Familiarity with state-specific employment laws, particularly in California.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing and timekeeping systems.
- Experience in candidate screenings.
- Basic skills for laptop setup and troubleshooting.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commitment to maintaining high levels of confidentiality and ethical standards.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of experience in HR, payroll administration, or a similar role
